Naked Entry Into The Blogosphere
Well, here I am, making my bold leap into the blogosphere, and I feel
a little exposed and a little strange about the whole deal.
Fortunately, I just saw the perfect film to help me through this
experience. Last night, I finally got around to seeing "The Naked
Hitchhiker" by Vermont filmmaker Eleanor Lanahan, and let me tell
you, it's a cool film and well worth seeing. This film is an animated
30-minute exploration of life choices, a personal journey into the
heart and mind of the main character — based a lot, I think, on
Lanahan's own life. Visually, the film is distinct, and inventive. It
reminded me a bit of the animated version of Pink Floyd's "The Wall"
in its look. But this work is different, and even though it's a
personal journey, it is replete with moments that will resonate with
everyone. Lanahan and her partner, fellow filmmaker John Douglas,
will be in Westminster this Wednesday, May 2, to present films as
part of the Westminster Festival of Films by Local Artists. They will
screen films and discuss their work at 7 p.m., at the Westminster
West library. "The Naked Hitchhiker wowed crowds at the Women's Film
Festival in Brattleboro in March. If you missed it, catch it here in
Westminster on Wednesday. Check out more on the film at
www.nakedhitchhiker.com. Details on the festival are at
www.westminsterfilmfest.com. There are a lot of offbeat, highly
innovative, totally cool artistic voices lurking here in the hills of
Vermont. Lanahan's is one of them. If you go, or if you've seen it,
let me know what you think. Harried Potter
