Up on the Housetop

Just a little over a year ago, I became a fan of the band Housetop when I heard them play at the Brattleboro Farmers' Market.

Featuring musicians familiar to me from other bands - Anna Patton, Peter Siegel, Erica Morse and Naomi Morse - Housetop has a lively, upbeat sound that's impossible not to tap your toes to. I vowed to keep my eyes out for local performances, which are rare because of the band members' other commitments.

On Friday, Housetop comes to the Hooker-Dunham Theater in Brattleboro for an 8 p.m. show. I recommend that you go check them out. Their promotional material describes their sound as "a lively, quirky program of singy, bluesy, old-time American music" and that's accurate. Mostly, I just think they're fun. Why not check them out? Tickets are $14 generals, $12 for seniors and kids. Call 802-254-9276.
